Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up

Another sorry day for the Sunday shows as they go 0-for-3 for the Watchdog.

Despite last week being the week when Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the Nobel Peace Prize for rallying the world to combat global warming, and the week where the world convened in Bali to address the climate crisis (no thanks to the Bush Administration), none of the Sunday shows asked the presidential candidates what they would do to solve the climate crisis.

Former Sen. Fred Thompson, who in the last debate refused to say whether he believed global warming was happening, was not asked on CBS’ Face The Nation to explain himself.

Tim Russert had a full hour on NBC’s Meet The Press to ask questions to former Gov. Mitt Romney, yet didn’t bother to make him square his pledge to cut carbon emissions and drill for more domestic oil.

And despite Alan Greenspan’s contribution to creating the mortgage and credit crises, he was feted on ABC’s This Week as a great economic sage and not in any way held to account.
