Weekend Watchdog

Every Friday in our Weekend Watchdog feature, we post suggested questions for scheduled Sunday guests. You can add your own questions in the comment thread. We’ll also include contact information for the shows, so we can let them know what their viewers want asked. We’ll post a wrap-up here on the blog on Monday.

It’s watchdog time again, and here’s what we’ve got:

For California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (ABC, This Week): You’re a McCain supporter, but you recently parted ways with the McCain campaign on offshore drilling.

Your state is one of the hardest hit by the subprime mortgage crisis — with foreclosures  up 77% over last year, matched by an increase in homeless students. You’ve signed legislation to help homeowners facing foreclosure.

What do you think about Phil Gramm — who some say helped make the subprime crisis possible — remarking Americans have become “a nation of whiners” in the face of the Bush economy?

For T. Boone Pickens (Fox, Fox News Sunday): You called $100 oil a crazy idea. Now it’s getting close to $150 per barrel, and many Americans are paying over $100 to fill up their gas tanks.

Saudia Arabia’s oil production promises are looking like a pipe dream, and experts predicting a third global “oil shock.” You’ve come forward witn an ambitious plan to develop an alternative energy source. What do you know about reducing dependency on foreign oil that the McCain campaign doesn’t?

For Carly Fiorina (NBC, Meet the press): In a recent interview you blamed our economic crisis on “greed on Wall Street” and “a lack of transparency around a new set of financial instruments.”

Who made sure that “new set of financial instruments” were unregulated? Care to give us a name?
