The Healthcare is Too Damn High from CEPR
Oh My goodness. The deficits are out of control. We have to do something!
What is wrong with the deficits?
Well, we have to cut them.
Why?
Because if we don’t do something, something really bad will happen
Like what?
The country will go broke.
What does that mean?
We have to stop wasteful government spending
But aren’t millions of Americans unemployed and doesn’t spending for job creation and extending unemployment benefits keep them from getting kicked out in the streets?
Well We spend too much on things like the Social Security?
But the social security doesn’t contribute anything to the budget deficit. And according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the Social Security can pay all promised benefits for the next 29 years with no changes at all. So we can just leave Social Security alone for a long time, at least until people are better informed about it.
Well something is making the deficits too high.
It’s the healthcare costs. The healthcare is too damn high.
What do you mean?
The healthcare is too damn high.
The healthcare is too damn high?
Yes. If we had healthcare costs similar most other developed nations like Germany or Sweden, the deficits would not be so high in the future.
If you’re really worried about the deficits, then you should really be worried about healthcare costs. They’re too damn high.
